Always use proper form. I know, it seems stupid that I’d have to say that, but I do. I think everyone on the planet is fully aware that proper form is not only important for the purpose of increasing muscle and getting the most out of each exercise, but it’s also obviously important for safety. We all know this, right? However, despite knowing this I still see tons of people in my gym using terrible form for the sole purpose of lifting more weight. Link

I??™m currently a pharmacy student at Ball State University. I already have a bachelor degree in Dietetics. I have been lifting twelve years, competing for 8 years. During those years I competed in bodybuilding off and on for five years and figure for 3 years.
Fitness Model, Competitor
Figure is much more suitable for me since I have a natural physique with lots of soft feminine curves. In my heart, natural, healthy feminine muscles is what female bodybuilding and fitness should be about. Link

Physique contests for women date back to at least the 1960s, with contests like the Miss Physique and Miss Americana. However, these early “bodybuilding” contests were really not much more than bikini contests. The first U.S. Women’s National Physique Championship, promoted by Henry McGhee and held in Canton, Ohio in 1978, is generally regarded as the first true female bodybuilding contest - that is, the first contest where the entrants were judged solely on muscularity Link

Danielle Rouleau - Amateur Figure

Danielle says “So now after five years of competitions I have moved up the ranks and I placed in the top five at several national level shows in 2006. My BIG goal for 2007 is to get my IFBB professional status in figure and then I would like to compete in the Figure Olympia in the same year. My short-term career goals include to headline my own NPC or IFBB show, opening and managing my own supplement store (with the help of my sponsors), and eventually I would like to have my own gym with a dance studio inside and to !! I know that my dreams will come true very soon, I am thankful for the support of those who help me. I am also so grateful for the constant support from my sponsors, for believing in me and giving me the freedom to train and focus on my career goals, and allowing me the opportunity to be part of a great winning team.” Link

Tara says : “I was born and raised in Queens NY. I started working out about 10 years ago and I took to the gym l very well . I started seeing changes in my physique right away and it got me so excited that I just wanted to train harder and learn as much as I could on about fitness. I became obsessed with muscle. My trainer and mentor encouraged me to get certified to be a personal trainer ( I was working unhappily in the garment district of NYC at the time). He who encouraged me to do my first fitness competition. A decision that changed my life.” Link

I moved out to live on my own when I was about 17 years old. I always wanted to see what it was like to live in the US so I moved to Atlanta when I turned 18.
I moved back to the Netherlands and decided to get back in college. I??™m now studying social work. In my first year I had lots of spare time and decided to hit the gym. After working out for 4 months I did my first figure competition and got 3rd place. Competing for the first time wasn??™t that scary for me because I love to be on stage and I love to be in front of the camera. I wasn??™t nervous at all, I had lots of fun. I qualified for the Dutch Nationals IFBB and competed there a month later. I got 3rd place again. Now I decided to work hard and try to win the Nationals in the next year. And so I did??¦ I won the Dutch Nationals in April 2006 and was invited to do the World Championships in September. Link

You don’t have to be a weightlifter to benefit from strength training. In fact, many studies show that even average people should incorporate strength training into their regular workout routine. Regular strength training is credited with helping even average people maintain healthy bones, prevent injuries, speed up their metabolism, and just look healthy.
